How
the RIGHT System works:
Wastewater first enters the
septic tank chamber. There solid vvastes are removed before water flows
into the sand filter dosing chamber. The water is then intermittently pumped
through spray heads onto an innovative dual chamber filter bed. The RIGHT
System's filter bed is a complete microbial ecosystem which establishes
itself naturally (no bacterial seeding required). In fact, this ecosystem
is a concentrated version of what Mother Nature does in the soil.
As the wastewater percolates
through the filter bed, microbes living on the filter media transform ammonia
into nitrates. Other microbes trap and digest harmful bacteria and organic
particles. A clear, high quality effluent flovvs out the bottom of the
filter beds. Two-thirds of this flow recirculates by gravity back through
the septic tank, where the denitrification process transforms the nitrates
into nitrogen gas. This nitrogen bubbles off to the atmosphere, greatly
reducing the concentration of nitrates in the final effluent. The rest
of the flow is gravity fed into an efffluent chamber and intermittently
dosed to a disposal field.

Major Components of the RIGHT System
The septic tank chamber utilizes
a proven traditional process. The chamber is equipped withan effluent filter
to remove any suspended solids from the flow. Durable precast concrete
tanks are manufactured to exacting specifications including ASTM C- 1227
and the National Precast Concrete Association "Best Practices Manual".
Crest Precast, Inc. is a certified precast manufacturing plant and produces
watertight tanks.
The innovative dual-chamber
sand filter is the heart of the RIGHT System. It is based upon a proven
technology employed for over 100 years in municipal systems. Its use in
onsite applications was perfected in the Washington Island Project (Door
County) funded by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. The dual
chambers of the RIGHT System sand filter reduce design complexity thus
lowering energy demand and operational cost.
High quality pumps are the
only complex mechanical components of the system. These pumps can be specified
by the designer or installer from among selected high quality brand name
products commonly used in your locality. This will assure many years of
reliable service and easy access to a replacement pump if one is ever required. |
